  24. What's in the distribution?
  25. =======================================================================
  26. This distribution contains Voodoo3 drivers, control panel for 
  27. Windows 95/98. The DirectDraw portion of the drivers supports Direct3D 
  28. when using DirectX 6.0
  29.  
  30. NOTE: DirectX 6.0 redistributable files should be used with these 
  31. drivers!

  37. Requirements

  40. - Windows 95/98
  41. - PC with a Pentium, Pentium II, or Pentium Pro Processor, Cyrix Mx, 
  42.   Cyrix M2, AMD K6, AMD K62 and AMD K63 and a free AGP or PCI slot
  43. - 16MB of RAM

  45. Fresh Installation 
  46. ------------------

  48. NOTE: Complete Steps 1 and 2 before removing your existing 2D card.
  49.  
  50. 1) Before removing your existing 2D card switch the video driver to 
  51.    Standard VGA. Click Start, Control Panel. Double-click on Display.
  52.  
  53.    Select 640X480 and 16 colors.  Accept the changes.
  54.  
  55. 2) Power off the system and remove your existing 2D card.
  56. 3) Install the Voodoo3 Card in a free AGP or PCI Slot
  57. 4) Power on the system and verify that video appears during post.
  58. 5) Start Windows in Normal mode
  59.  
  60.   (Once Windows starts you may be notified that no video device
  61.    exists, click Cancel if this message appears)
  62.  
  63. 6) Go to the directory where you put the Voodoo3 driver kit, run the 
  64.    executable kit file.  Click SETUP.  At the welcome screen of 3dfx
  65.    Tools, select NEXT.  Click on YES when prompt to install Voodoo3 
  66.    Driver.
  67. 7) Follow instruction on the screen to install Voodoo3 Driver and 
  68.    3dfx Tools Control Panel.
  69. 8) Select 'Yes, I want to restart my computer now' when prompted.
  70. 9) Install DirectX 6.0.

  73. Upgrade Existing Voodoo3 Drivers

  76. 1) Start Windows 95/98
  77. 2) Go to the directory where you put the Voodoo3 driver kit, run the 
  78.    executable kit file.  Click SETUP.  At the welcome screen of 3dfx 
  79.    Tools, select NEXT.  Click on YES when prompt to install Voodoo3 
  80.    Driver.
  81. 3) Follow instruction on the screen to install Voodoo3 Driver and 3dfx 
  82.    Tools Control Panel.
  83. 4) Select 'Yes, I want to restart my computer now' when prompted.

  87. Limitations
  88. -----------

  90. Running 640x480 16 Color will run SUPERVGA.DRV or VGA.DRV.  No Voodoo3 
  91. features will be used.  Switch to a different resolution or color depth.
  92. Full windowed hardware acceleration with this version of the drivers is 
  93. only possible when running at 16bpp modes.

  100. Problem: After installing the card, the system still detects my old 
  101. card even though it is no longer in the system.
